You should assume not. There’s a lot of cases were words seem similar but a link can’t be found between them. (Although seeming similar is still quite a powerful force for language formation regardless.)
The etymonline dictionary represents the synthesis of quite extensive body of research. So the absence of a relation is meaningful not an oversight. The methods section of this post outlines the “core” of print sources that were used for the compilation.
