Is there a relationship between these two as they harken to similar acts?
I don’t see any clear relationship based on this dictionary. Revenant is traced back to Latin venire “to come” while reveal is traced back to Latin velum “a veil”.
I see the connection in meaning you’re talking about… Both refer to the change from something not being so to being so. Revenant is more about movement while reveal is more about deception.
Sometimes there is not a clear reason for why two words have both shared form and shared meaning.
