Question about "Memphis'

The etymology given asserts that ‘Memphis’ is from Egyptian */mem-nefer/ ‘his beauty’… My understanding is that /men/ is Egyptian for ‘remain/endure’, so the name might be translated as 'enduring and beautiful. The name is usually written with the phonogram Gardiner Y5 /mn/ which means ‘game board’. ‘His’ would normally be expressed by a suffix, /-f/.
