In the entry for “matting (n.2)”, it references “mat (n.2)”, but there is no “mat (n.2)”, only “mat (n.1)”, which doesn’t seem to incorporate the meaning referenced by “matting (n.2)”.

thanks; the mat/matte word entries have been re-sorted several times and there are a lot of links to keep track of. I’ll have to figure out what it’s supposed to be.
