Bequeath is also used for a pair of baseball pitching statistics: Bequeathed Runners (BQR) and Bequeathed Runners Scored (BQS). The concept is more commonly used in reference to a relief pitcher coming into a game with runners on base (Inherited Runners), but the pitcher who has left the game with runners still on base has bequeathed them (“transfer by legacy”) to the poor reliever. Baseball has contributed a lot to the language but is also preserving it in this case.
