1442 reference for "shark"

Thomas Beckington’s journal entry of July XIII, 1442 mentions the word “shark”:

Friday, at sea, in a calm, about seven in the evening, as we thought, a fish, called a shark, pursued the ship, and was driven back, after being twice struck with a harping iron

This is already mentioned in the entry:

by 1560s, perhaps mid-15c., if an isolated instance in a diary quoted in Middle English Compendium is the same word
